This film is a Hammer style gothic horror, with some sick, modern and dare I say Scottish twists. There’s a mysterious life sized automaton doll with a mysterious and murky past – The Infernal Princess. Is she real? And if she is, what is she? And who will survive to tell the tale? They had me at Hammer.
A dark folk tale with a modern twist – the Rusalka is a mythical heartbroken woman who drowns and exacts revenge for evermore. A dark fairytale on being “pulled under” and consumed by love. The film’s now been renamed The Siren.
Bergmanesque giallo style horror featuring the inspiration for Kill Bill’s The Bride – Christina Lindberg. Two sisters get sucked into a nightmare when they listen to an old recorded hypnosis album. Loved the 70s styling and the light. Confusingly great.
Two world premieres at FrightFest tonight. The first was a hoot! 30s comedy horror pastiche, with fabulous performances, creative effects, and some proper schlock. Shot in black and white in a run down old mansion it all starts with a seance and goes hilariously downhill from there. I laughed. Lots.
